Weigh In Motion
Precision Scale is in partnership with Cardinal Scale to offer Weigh-In-Motion scales. Both high-speed and slow-speed in-motion vehicle scales are designed to measure and record a passing truck's axle weights, total weights, axle spacing and speed. These in-motion vehicle scales are available with either quartz-piezoelectric sensors or strain gauge load cells. The quartz-piezoelectric sensors offer easy installation with minimum pavement disruption and can be used for both slow and high-speed applications. Multiple permanently mounted sensors may be used to increase the performance of the system.
We have a test truck and trailer configured specifically to test and calibrate high speed weigh-in-motion scales. Our technicians are certified by the manufactures to do actual installation of quartz-piezoelectric sensors in the roadway. This allows us to fully install, maintain and calibrate weigh-in-motion systems on a regular basis to guarantee the accuracy.
Cardinal Scale's Weigh-In-Motion systems scales meet ASTM 1318E requirements for Types 3 and 4 applications and are capable of assigning the passing vehicle into a pre-determined vehicle classification, communicating with an AVI (automatic vehicle identification) system to determine if the truck must enter a highway weigh station, and operating traffic lights and variable message signs to direct the truck to a static scale or back to the highway.
